Read an Extract from Chapter 29...
Now some of you might still be wondering, dear readers, why, a few chapters ago, they had both appeared looking dishevelled out of the same bedroom.
Some of you might have been day-dreaming about the start of a true love affair. You might have spent time imagining their lingering first kiss when you put down this un-putdownable tome to pop to the loo.
Others among you, go on, admit it, might have been fancying they were at it, like wild rabbits. And your thoughts might have become a little heated.
Whilst the cynics among you might have decided it was all far too predictable.
Well, I hate to disappoint you, but the fact is it was the only spare bedroom and it did have twin beds. With sleep a necessity, common sense prevailed and a room was shared with all propriety.
Dartagne, always the gentleman, had kept his back turned to Zzorroa and Zzorroa out of desperate desire to deter desire, had kept her back to Dartagne.
BUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is what truly happened, for to lie would be against my principles.
In the middle of the night, they had both had dreams….
Zzorroa had dreamt that jiffying the streets of L’Undone, she had bumped into the infamous large elephant all the Nerds were looking for and had slayed him. She had jumped on his hump and dashed him with the swish of a Z, thus causing the elephant to have the hump and fall down vanquished.
Meanwhile Dartagne had dreamt that he was walking up a rounded raised mass of earth or hump when he was suddenly landed on by an elephant. He got the hump. But once over the hump, which was only momentary, he found himself in the arms of an attractive Humpty Dumpty who suggested they humped. Never one to enjoy a lady, or in this case egg, to take the lead, he got the hump once again. And so they didn’t hump. Rather Humpty Dumpty turned into a humped back whale. Dartagne scrabbled around and reaching for his sword started to swish the whale.
At this very point, the ‘couple’ both woke up to find themselves on top and beneath each other, legs and arms all over the place, hands empty as if holding swords and about to slay each other. Both were extremely embarrassed, yelled ‘humph!!!!!’ and fell onto their separate beds in shock.
Was it a wonder that their hair looked dishevelled the following morning?
